Client Reviews

Since 2006 Simon has been performing his act in hotels around the Torbay area with great success. The testimonials below go to show, to a small extent, how highly he is regarded in the bay:

'Simon Rees was recommended to us in 2008 and consequently we contacted him and booked him for the 2009 season. We soon realised that Simon is an excellent entertainer. He is tall, dark and handsome, and very charismatic, he is a real crowd pleaser as he sings and dances involving everyone in the room.

Simon is very reliable and he always arrives on time, he is also willing to play on if the crowd desires. Simon is extremely friendly, and versatile, and as well as being a very good singer he reads his crowd and adjusts his act accordingly.

During his two 45 min slots that Simon does for us, he performs all sorts of music for singing and dancing, he encourages people to join in and tries to involve everyone but he is not pushy if they prefer not to. Simon also does a short specialised Elvis act which is superb and very funny too.

This is now the fifth year that Simon has been with us and we would certainly be happy to recommend him to anyone.

'Simon has had a regular weekly Tuesday slot throughout 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 at Lincombe Hall Hotel and now appears at the sister hotel, the Babbacombe Hotel in Torquay every Thursday. The guests thoroughly enjoy his brand of entertainment.

We have different types of entertainment each evening, pianist, female or male vocalist, guitarist and Simon is the most ‘involving’ of the audience.

He is great fun but not over the top and certainly the favourite amongst our guests. He gets the most comments on our feedback forms, all good and even recently was mentioned in a Tripadvisor Review about the hotel.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him'.

Wedding Singer Devon

Golden Wedding Anniversary

Thank you Simon so much for making our Golden Wedding Celebration so memorable. You made it a real Party for EVERYONE. You are a very talented charming man, and a very gifted entertainer, able to get everyone involved in a party spirit. The quality of your singing was a pleasure to listen to, and your humour just added warmth and laughter to the event.

You made the older guests forget their age and ailments, and the youngsters their reserve and inhibitions. They were all drawn into your tactful and compelling entertainment. You made the day such a great success and you are still being talked about. We look forward to seeing you perform again in the future.

Our thanks again. Paul & Sonya

You can take a look at his repertoire on Simon's song list.

Influenced by performers such as Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, Rod Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Freddie Mercury, Ricky Martin, Robbie Williams and more recently Michael Bublé and Bruno Mars, Simon loves performing and puts on an energetic and enthusiastic show for all. He enjoys listening to many different bands and music from all genres and has built his repertoire around a variety of popular songs.

Simon now specialises in providing entertainment for Wedding Receptions, Corporate parties and private birthday and Anniversary parties. He is the perfect choice for that special occasion and with such a versatile repertoire he provides something for everyone.

There has been so much interest in Simon that he was recently given a full-page spread in the local press entitled 'The Wedding Singer'

With over fifteen years experience as a solo artist, Simon knows how important it is to get a connection with his audience and has worked hard to develop his own unique style. Many people have commented that they have not seen anyone like him before.

'Simon clearly has that gift of creating an instant connection between himself and ... his audience. A clue lies in the fact that his blurb talks of 'a touch of Latin fire'. And we all know how sexy the Latinos can be, don't we!But, somehow, Simon's routine goes way beyond the merely sexy. Indeed, there's something much more subtle and sophisticated about his stage presence…something I can only describe as a kind of chemistry.' David Lowe, Music Scene.

Simon had his heart set on making a career in music since he entered a College talent night back in 1988 where he dressed up and sang a couple of Elvis tracks with no music to a crowd of students. He couldn't believe that even people, who didn't know him, loved it and wanted to hear more. It took a few years and a lot of hard work but Simon started to seriously embark on a music career by fronting a five-piece Pop/Rock show band, created by ex Cockney Rebel/Rocky Horror show bassist Dennis Cowan, called Dark Stranger. Dark Stranger recorded an album and played several club venues before their split in 1995.

Between 1988 and 1996, Simon would sing wherever there was an opportunity, serenading guests in a restaurant he worked at, singing with any band that happened to be playing (whatever their style) and entering various talent events etc.

It was not until 1996 that we saw the rise of Simon Rees as a solo artist. Since then he has played several hundred gigs in a variety of pubs, clubs, hotels and holiday parks across the South West of England. He also appeared as Elvis, Cliff and Buddy in a Rock&Roll production at Torquay's Riviera Centre.

Simon sang at his first wedding reception in 2000 and enjoyed it so much that since then he has been developing his act as a 'Wedding Singer'. Simon has performed at weddings all over the South West and has advertised at the Westpoint Real Brides Show in Devon, the Devon Weddings Publication and the Dream Weddings Publication along with links to several popular wedding services websites.

'A wedding is such a unique and special occasion that I find it is such a pleasure to be a part of the day and I love the feeling that I may have helped to make it even more enjoyable. I have had some wonderful testimonials from couples and this makes it all worthwhile.
' Simon

Perfect for creating that party atmosphere, Simon now performs across the country for a variety of public and private events. Recently in 2013, he provided the entertainment for the Lions Clubs International Volunteer Organisation, District and Multi-District Conventions and has performed at a number of Charter events around the South West.

Simon is able to adapt his show to fit any event and always likes to work closely with the event organisers to ensure that the evening runs smoothly and that everyone enjoys themselves.

Simon's year currently comprises a combination of wedding receptions, private parties, hotel residencies and public social club events. This enables him to keep developing his skills as an entertainer and to keep his performances fresh and up to date.

If you are planning an event and are looking for a first class Singer/Entertainer, look no further than the inimitable Simon Rees. You won't be disappointed!
